Samir Kumar Patra
I am a Professor of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Epigenetics & Cancer at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NIT-Rourkela) India, a position that I have held since 2009. I was also the head of the Department of Life Science from April 2011-2014 and member of new curriculum development committee of our institute. During 2021-2023 I was the Chairman of Curriculum Development, Accreditation and Ranking Cell of NIT-Rourkela. I visited many world class institutes at different capacities, as postdoctoral fellow, and visiting scientists, at the University of the Basque Country, Spain; University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), McGill University, Canada; University of Parma, Italy, respectively. Additionally, I am serving as Editorial Board Member and on editorial advisory boards of scientific journals; Biochmica et Biophysica Acta: Molecular Basis of Disease (Elsevier), BB Reports (Elsevier) and Environmental Epigenetics (Oxford Academic)). Also, serving as reviewer of scientific journals, including FEBS J, Exp Cell Res, Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry, Oncology, Proteomics, Sem Can Biol, Pharmacol Res, Gene etc. Moreover, I am the author of more than 80 research publications with more than 5000 citations and many of my papers have appeared in the reputed journal such as Eur J Biochem, BBA Biomembrane, Exp Cell Res, BBA Rev on Cancer; Cancer and Metastasis Rev, Molecular Carcinogenesis, FEBS J, Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, Tumor Biology, Sem Can Biol, Oncology Reports. Besides, I have been involved in mentoring Postdoc Fellows, Ph.D. and M.S. research projects for a number of students and times in my laboratory and together number counts well over 75. I contribute to training through membership of various graduate research committees. I have served and continue to serve on many PhD thesis committees in several departments throughout NIT-Rourkela and as examiners of PhD thesis from other universities of the country. Therefore, I believe, I am in an excellent position to judge and comment upon my students.
