Hideaki Morishita 11th International Symposium on Autophagy 2025

Hideaki Morishita

Hideaki Morishita earned his MD from Kyushu University in 2007 and completed clinical training at the National Center for Global Health and Medicine in 2009. He received his PhD in Medicine from Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2013, where he trained in the laboratory of Noboru Mizushima. He then continued his research on autophagy and organelle degradation as an assistant professor at the University of Tokyo. In 2019, he joined Juntendo University in the laboratory of Masaaki Komatsu as a lecturer and became an associate professor in 2022. Since 2023, he has been a professor at Kyushu University, where he leads his own laboratory. His group investigates large-scale intracellular degradation processes in vivo, including the discovery of a non-canonical PLAAT phospholipase–dependent pathway essential for lens transparency, as well as the physiological and pathological roles of p62 bodies.
